Create your own message using buildings!
mapzone.ordnancesurvey.co.uk hosts GIS Zone, which features a series of role-play missions to help youngsters understand and enjoy working with digital map data. Pupils can try their hand at stopping flood waters rising, learn how to manage a farm, and decide where to site wind turbines. The real-life scenarios show how vital GIS is in the modern world.
Quikmaps.com
A web based tool which enables pupils to annotate maps for their work.
Using Quikmaps you can add your own labels and symbols to maps generated by Google Maps. You can then print the map off, put it on your school website or export the information into Google Earth. You can even add photographs to your maps too, although this is not as straight forward. See our example of buildings in Tonbridge. http://www.quikmaps.com/full/20868
