Case Study: Dover Schools' Maths Trails

Buildings and natural features can be used effectively to set pupils challengThe pupils at Lydden Primary School used the Flashmeeting “on-screen” whiteboard to work out and display their answers. es linked to number, shape and measurement. The Dover Schools Maths project has involved pupils outside the classroom using digital cameras to photograph mathematical problems. Following these sessions the pupils have used the web conferencing application “FlashMeeting” back in school to display their photographs and set each other mathematical problems to solve.

Next term to develop this work pupil’s will be using “I-Got-U-Map” data loggers to record their walks. Finished “Maths Trails” (with photographs and Maths problems added) will be published on Google Maps.

Following publication pupils will use the comments box to publish their questions and post their answers.
