Activities
The children will:

• Use maps and aerial photographs to locate the source and journey of a river

• Be able to recognise common river features

• Be able to use a range of fieldwork skills to record evidence of erosion, transportation and deposition

• Be able to describe how human activity can change the appearance of a river

• Use ICT to present and share their work with others

• Use Infomapper to locate the source and mouth of the River Darent

• Visit points on the river to observe evidence of erosion, transportation and deposition

• Measure the velocity, depth and width of the river at various points

• Use digital cameras to record evidence

• Write a report on the “Life of a River”

• Include information about river features found in the Youthful, Mature and Old Age stages
