Activities
The children will:
  • describe the main physical and human features found in each location
  • accurately compare and contrast both locations
  • be able to suggest reasons why people choose to live in each location
• Use the Internet to view maps, aerial photographs and find out information about both locations

• Visited each location to compare land use, buildings and traffic

• Used digital cameras and camcorders to record information

• Used ICT to create Multimedia presentations and share their work with others

Learning Outcomes

What the children did:

• Created their own maps (including a key) of both locations

• Produced a user guide about their own locality containing information for a visitor to read

• Wrote and published poems and reports on Infomapper and Making the News about Bodsham and Kennington

• Created and published on Infomapper Multimedia and Digital Video files about “Kennington and Bodsham – Similarities and Differences”

Use of ICT to enhance Teaching and Learning

The children used:

Image: graph• digital cameras and Intel Movie Makers to record information about land use, buildings and human activity

• MP3 recorders and audacity to interview members of the public and record their own thoughts and feelings about each loacation

• Windows Movie Maker to edit and share their video presentations with others

• Making the News to publish their written reports on the Internet

• Skype to video conference and collect information about each locality
