Key Stage 2 (8-11 year olds) Thinkuknow has a brand new resource for 8-10 year olds: "Thinkuknow Cybercafe". This resource is an exciting interactive online space where young people can practically learn about online safety! This site has been developed in partnership with Grid Club Becta and the Internet Proficiency Scheme. The new resource is accompanied by 9 easy to use informative lesson plans allowing you to move easily from the whiteboard to the computer. Teacher's Pack The Teachers' Pack (Key Stage 2) is downloadable from the CEOP - www.ThinkuKnow.co.uk teachers' area. You need to register (free) on the website before having access to the free downloads. The Cybercafe website The Cybercafe website is an integral part of the scheme and develops pupils’ skills on staying safe on the Internet. It is a very appealing site for the pupils to use as it has a child friendly appearance with realistic café background noises and music. The Cybercafe covers the following issues: Emailing Chat rooms Reviewing Websites SMS/Text messaging A quiz The Cybercafe also includes fact files on instant messaging and online forums. In each section they visit, pupils are faced with dilemmas allowing them to make choices. Incorrect choices are followed up with an explanation of why their particular choice was unsafe or inappropriate. At the end of the section there are three questions to recap on what they have learnt before returning to the Cybercafe main area. |
