Roamer Control

Roamer Control Box
Did you know that you can make a Roamer move
, flash lights, turn a motor or play music - or do all of these things - when you clap your hands?

The Control box allows students to bring their creations alive with full control over robotic like actions. Schools can use their existing models, sensors, motors and switches. It is compatible with INVENTA, Tronix, Capsela, K'nex and some Lego packs.

Introduction to Roamer Control and the control box

Using Roamer Control for the first time

It's most important to get to know the simple steps in controlling the Roamer before you plan work for your class. The Sensing and Control sheets contain full details of how to use the control pack, with simple examples to try.

You will need to take pupils through the steps carefully at the outset. The activity sheets from Sheldwich Primary School are intended to support pupils working independently. 'Expert' pupils may be able to solve problems if you are busy.

Pauline Whitehouse's account of her Year 4 project gives many ideas for developing a project spanning several weeks. There are six progressively structured lessons, with illustrations of children's work.

Case Studies

Controlling Models

To see the type of model you can control using the Roamer, look at the Helicopter building sheet.

Our Robolab pages also have building sheets for standing models which can be adapted for the Roamer.
