Engaging young people in the development of the Children and Young People's Plan

Children and young people

A Good Childhood

In developing the plan we are also asking people what they think makes a good childhood.  In addition to giving us views on the emerging themes we would also welcome views on:

  1. What makes a good childhood in Kent?
  2. What the Kent Children’s Trust should focus on to make a real difference and improve the lives for children and young people in the county.

Feedback from children, young people and parents

It is important that children, young people and parents have a say in what is in the plan.  We want to know what YOU think are the most important things for the Kent Children’s Trust to focus on to improve the lives of children and young people. What do we need to do here in Kent to make this a better place to grow up?

We have devised two short activities to find out views from children, young people, parents and carers on what’s important and how to improve childhood in Kent.  Activity 1 is also available in Widgit format. Widgit is a software package which translates the information in to symbols, this is particularly useful to engage with disabled children and young people, children and young people with English as an Additional Language or with learning difficulties.

If you have any thoughts on how we can make Kent’s children and young people’s experience of childhood better – we would like to hear from you.

We welcome your views and you can contact us on: cyppconsultation@kent.gov.uk

Please note that the deadline for feedback is 30 September 2010.

Thank you for helping us to develop the next Kent Children and Young People’s Plan.
