 The Kent e-Safety “Safeguarding in a digital age”sub-group Group comprises of Teachers, Officers, Child Protection and children’s workforce professionals and Kent Police to advise on online safety for the young people in Kent. We work with the Kent Children's Safeguards Service. Safer Practice with Technology Document   
This document provides advice on appropriate and safer behaviours with technology for adults working in paid or unpaid capacities, in school based on Frequently Asked Questions. It is intended to be used to stimulate discussion within establishments to consider potential situations that may occur and to ensure staff are aware of appropriate and professional behaviour.
 
Please note that this document is constantly being revised due to new questions and changes in technology –  any comments/suggestions for future editions are to be sent to the editor here.
 
Be Safe e-Safe  

 

This video has been produced for young people, by young people to highlight the risks associated with Social Networking sites and other websites and how to use them safely. This video is aimed at Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils to consider the benefits and dangers of socialising online. A DVD has been sent to all Schools in Kent and Medway for use in School. For additional information and copies please contact the e-Safety Officer

Becta: Digital Literacy New!

Digital literacy is the combination of skills, knowledge and understanding that young people need to learn in order to participate fully and safely in an increasingly digital world.

Becta have produced a short guide which explains what digital literacy is and highlights why it should be taught in all subjects, at all levels. There is also a Digital Literacy Planning Tool to make the development of digital literacy easier to incorporate in everyday teaching.

"Click Clever, Click Safe"

The UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) and the Government have launched a new campaign for Young People and their Families called "Click Clever Click Safe". The campaign is aimed at helping young people and their families to enjoy the internet safely and to act as an everyday reminder of simple good behaviours, to help you and your children avoid common risks online.
