Who we are
Kent Educational Psychology Service is a Local Authority service and aims to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. Our Practice Framework guides us in how we will work together with you.
All our Educational Psychologists are registered with the Health Professional Council (HPC).
What we do
Educational Psychologists apply psychology within the educational system and the community. We specialise in promoting learning, lifelong development, emotional well-being and satisfying lives for children, young people and their families by:
- supporting teams and organisations who work with children and young people
- promoting the understanding of children's psychology
- promoting better outcomes for vulnerable children
- supporting schools in challenging circumstances, including crisis support
- enabling children and young people to express their own views on how their needs might be supported.
Traded services (EduKent)
Kent Educational Psychology Service offers a range of traded services and products that schools and other customers can purchase. These include;
- a guaranteed enhanced level of service for your school from a psychologist who knows you, bought on a yearly or two yearly basis and tailored to your needs. You can arrange this through our Service Level Agreement packages
- a range of highly regarded ‘pay as you go’ products and services . These include training events, courses and staff development programmes delivered by specialist presenters.
- bespoke training events, interventions, projects, evaluation, research and enhanced service commissions that are flexible, delivered when you need them and competitively priced.

Who we work with
- individuals (0-19 years of age) and groups of children and young people and their parents or carers
- educational establishments and adults who care for and educate children and young people
- professionals from other agencies and practioners in educational settings and communities.

- Consultation with teachers, parents or carers and other adults who work with children and young people
- Psychological assessments, advice and interventions
- Professional development and training
- Research and evaluation
- Crisis support in schools.

How to get involvement from the Educational Psychology Service
- If a parent/carer has concerns about a child’s learning or well-being in most cases they should contact the child’s school and teacher.
- The staff who know that child should discuss those aspects of the child’s progress/ development which are causing concern and what has been done to support them with the parent/carer.
- Requests for the involvement of an Educational Psychologist would normally come from the child’s school following consultation with the parent/carer.
- If an Educational Psychologist becomes involved a Consultation Request form would be completed at a meeting with the parent/carer and appropriate professionals to provide important information.
