Kent Children's University: Costs & Funding

Approximate Costs & Sources of Funding

Kent Children's University can offer the students in your school or cluster the opportunity to take part in out-of-school-hours Study Support activities.

Independent national evidence has shown that children who take part in such activities typically achieve higher results than their peers, as well as increasing self confidence and self-esteem.

We are able to offer standard packages (Kent Children's University, Kent Youth University, Family Learning, Holiday Time Clubs, Master-Classes etc.) or a tailor-made solution with specific criteria.

It is impossible to give an exact figure as to the cost of such packages due to the significant amount of variables.

As a guide, KCU never charge more than £400 per course. We define a course as between 6 and 16 students receiving up to 7.5 hours of face-to-face contact with a tutor. Naturally the more courses offered at one venue, running simultaneously, the cheaper the costs become. If we take an example of a school offering four courses (a typical number) over three consecutive Saturday mornings (9:30am till noon). We will assume all 16 places on each course are full.

The costs break down as follows :

£400 per course x 4 = £1600

 Children benefiting from the courses 16 x 4 = 64

Number of additional learning hours created 7.5 x 64 = 480

At a cost per head per hour of only £3.33 (£1600 / 64 / 7.5)
