Kent LA's Accessibility Strategy 2007 - 2010
  

This document below fulfils the responsibility of the LEA, under The SEN Code of Practice 2002 and section 28D of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA 1995), to produce an accessibility strategy to show how the LEA will:  

  •  Increase the extent to which all pupils with a disability can participate in the schools' curriculum;
  • Improve the physical environment of the schools for the purpose of increasing the extent to which all pupils with a disability are able to take advantage of education and associated services provided or offered by the schools; and
  • Improve the delivery to all pupils with a disability of information that is provided in writing for pupils who do not have a disability.

KENT: Removing Barriers to Achievement

The Government's Strategy for SEN: Update on Progress 2005 - 2006 New: Added 9 January 2006 Please find below a copy of the DCSF report on Kent's progress on removing barriers to achievement during 2005 - 2006. The report covers:

Information about meeting Special Educational Needs at all stages of the SEN Code of Practice

This document is the LA's response to Statutory Instrument 2218, 2001 which requires the LA to publish its plans and arrangements for meeting special educational needs, to review its publication each and, where necessary, to amend it. The publication was las amended in 2005. Further amendments were required in 2007 to reflect new and on-going developments, primarily:    

  • The continued implementation of the special school review
  • The review of units and designations and emergence of cluster lead schools
  • Further significant development of cluster arrangements
  • The piloting of the Children's Trusts Pathfinders
  • Preparatory work on the introduction of the Common Assessment Framework and Lead Professional role
  • The implementation of the 14-19 strategy
