Seashells work in partnership is Jobcentre Plus to promote positive opportunities for families.

What help can Jobcentre Plus offer?

  • Lone Parent Advisors.  Specialist advisors who deal specifically with lone parents that have children aged 16 years
  • Disability Employment Advisor.  A specialist advisor with access to facilities to enable those needing extra support assistance to return to the workplace
  • Travel to interview scheme.  Available for those claiming Job Seekers Allowance.  Certain restrictions are in place.  The cheapest mode of transported will be considered
  • Better Off Calculations.  Advisors offer to calculate whether work would be a viable financial option.  They can also give an estimate of Housing and Council Tax Benefits
  • Work Trials.  An employer must be willing to undertake a work trial.  Daily travel costs can be considered.  The work must be expected to last for at least 13 weeks and be for a minimum of 16 hours per week
  • Help to make a claim to Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support and Employment Support Allowance
  • General advice and signposting services offering telephone contact numbers where appropriate
  • Additional support for 18-24 year olds on Job Seekers Allowance
  • Access to support with a specialist advisor for those wishing to seek self employment
  • Support and advice for customers in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support and Employment Support Allowance to gain suitable skills for work

The 2011 Census is fast approaching.  The census provides information to help government make key decisions that will affect public services.  Run in England and Wales every ten years, the next one takes place on 27 March 2011.
