Seashells Mission Statement

At Seashells we provide childcare, health, family and support services for children under 5 and their families all in a supportive, understanding and positive environment.
One parent said 'You always feel so welcomed by the staff'.
Every month a newsletter is produced and distributed to all families living in Sheerness with a child under 5 years. The newsletter contains information & guidance, news on past or forthcoming events and an activities calendar. Register to receive your free copy; either call into Seashells or print the registration form and return it to us signed.

Based in our centre:
Children's Centre team
We offer a wide range of services to all expectant parents, children under 5 and their families in Sheerness. We work in partnership with parents, other local groups and agencies for the benefit of families and their young children.
Our experienced staff cover a wide range of disciplines so that all young children and their families can get the help and support they need.
Seashells is committed to supporting people get into work and develop by gaining valuable experience in the work place. We currently have a number of extra staff working in the Centre employed by the Future Jobs Fund.
The team based at Seashells offers home visits and many group activities/services.
Family Action - Sheppey Family Support Project
The Project offers a range of groups at Seashells and
Sheerness Neighbourhood Nursery
An Ofsted inspected 60 place Nursery offering high quality childcare in a caring and stimulating environment where children can develop their full potential, through well planned activities, while enjoying all the care and protection you would wish for them.
Family Action - Young Persons Project
The Young Persons Project is funded by East Kent Coastal Primary Care Trust. The service covers the Isle of Sheppey and Sittingbourne.
The aim is to improve the mental health and emotional well being of children and young people of school age.
The Young Persons Project takes referrals from local professionals and will also be providing consultation to families and professionals.
The staff are a small team of skilled professionals committed to working with children, young people and their families to identify needs and work towards positive change.
East and Coastal Kent Community Services
(Children & Families Universal Services)
As well as funding the Young Persons project, East and Coastal Kent are offering Midwifery services to families. The Health Visiting Team are also based in Sheerness Children & Families Centre and offer a number of home-visiting and support services.
Overall the centre works to strengthen families and the local community by enabling families to access:
A Steering Group oversee the programme and includes parents and staff representing Social Services, Health, Education, Swale Borough Council, and the voluntary sector.
