Riverside Children's Centre, Canterbury

Outreach

Kirsty and Carolyn are the Riverside Children's Centre Outreach Team.  They offer support and advice to families to help them meet their children's needs and reach their full potential.

The Outreach Team give advice on:

  • Dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Setting routines/sleeping/potty training
  • Leading a healthy lifestyle
  • Managing relationships
  • Finding a training course or job
  • Financial issues
  • Help with finding a nursery or childminder

Unfortunately the Outreach Team are NOT able to:

  • Look after children
  • Lend money in any way
  • Help with housework
  • They can assist with positive parenting and show how playing and having fun with your child can strengthen bonds, boost confidence and aid learning.

The team can also offer ideas on fun activities for parents and their children to do at home together, and the benefits they will gain from these.

The Outreach Team can offer play sessions in the home or in one of our weekly groups, or at a special drop-in 'clinic'.

Health Visitors, Midwives, Social Workers or other professionals can refer families to the home visiting service.  Families can also refer themselves.  All other services are open to any family with one or more child under 5 years of age.  We welcome families with special or additional needs.

"His behaviour is better, he is calmer... Now he sleeps through the night in his own bed.  His speech has improved too, he talks more than he used to."  SureStart Parent
