Operational Board

The Role of Riverside Children's Centre Operational Board  

Meeting monthly, the board provides direction, ideas and support for the centre and its programme of activities.  The board makes recommendations about key issues to the overaching Canterbury District Children's Centre Board that has a strategic management function for all the children's centres in the district.

Membership

The Operational Board comprises a partnership between parents and staff from the statutory and voluntary sector.

Are you interested in being a  Parent Representative on our Operational Board?

We have an opportunity for parents to join our board, advising us on the delivery of services and activities and taking day-to-day decisions about the running of the centre. No experience is necessary, so if you feel you have the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to make a real difference to the lives of children and their families in our area, then please contact us on 01227 475550.

The Role

You will:

  • be part of a team of parents belonging to the Riverside Children’s Centre Operational Board, attending monthly board meetings as advised
  • listen to constructive feedback from other parents and report this information to the Operational Board
  • provide suggestions concerning improvements to staff where appropriate
  • take part in consultations when asked.

In return, the Children’s Centre will:

  • listen to your views and take on board your comments
  • provide training to help you as a parent and group representative (some of this training may be accredited up to NVQ 2 level*)
  • keep you up to date on all developments concerning Sure Start services
  • provide you with valuable experience within a respected organisation
