Millmead Young persons group meets here at the centre every Tuesday during term time from 4.30pm – 6.30pm.  The group encourages young people to meet together in a safe and secure environment to have fun and form friendships.  Young people between the ages of 11-18 from a range of diverse backgrounds attend each week and are offered opportunities to gain confidence and participate in a wide range of activities.
The group is located within the community café, offering plenty of space for activities and chilling, we also have use of the enclosed court yard area, which contains football goals and basketball hoops.  We are also lucky to have a lovely grassed area with seating which can be used for a variety of games or somewhere to chat and chill in the warm summer afternoons.

Having the large space we are able to have a full size table tennis table, a pool table and a wii available at each session.  We even have our own fun competitions, which everyone is encouraged to participate in regardless of age or ability.  Other activites at each session are varied to suit those young people attending, although there is usually something to please everyone.
The weekly craft activites prove very popular ranging from canvas painting, ceramic painting, glass painting, puppet making, paper mache, drawing, mask making, card making, etc We have all the materials necessary to meet all your creative needs.
Within the Children’s centre we have a computer suite which Young people attending the group can use under supervision.  We also have a computer within the main hall, which can be used.  Other activites available and sessions, include, circus skills equipment, swing ball, board games, nail art, woodwork.

Activities are always planned in consultation with the young people so why not tell us what you would like at future sessions.

From time to time at the group we have visitors these include the sexual health nurse, drugs awareness workers, connexions, Kent Youth workers.

Each week at our session, a  healthy  snack is provided for each member, sometimes the young people cook their own tea i.e pizza making, wraps to name a few of the creations.  The young people all eat together with the Youth workers and visitors, this is a very enjoyable part of the session.  At Christmas a two course meal was enjoyed by all of the Young people, this was cooked by the Youth workers.

If you would like more information about our group then call the centre on 01843 28055 and ask to speak to Diane or Julie.  Or why not pop in and see us.  Within the centre there is also a Young person’s group notice board which has up to date news and pictures.  Within the community café there is also a notice board with young persons, information, which is available during normal centre opening times.

There are different activities that are run each session
