Weather update: 2 December 2010
We always aim to keep our children's centres open whenever possible, and closing them is our last resort. Centres will only close when there is a risk to the safety of staff and visitors.
There are many reasons why a centre may close suddenly, but the most common reason is because of severe weather conditions. The centre management will weigh up the safety risks and make a decision based on these risks and current weather conditions, which is why most closures are announced on the day.
You can check to see if the centre has closed by listening to local radio stations in the morning and checking on local websites:
