Secondary National Strategy
The Secondary National Strategy provides resources, training and support for schools.
Key priorities in the strategy
Raising standards and improving progress for all students through:-
- development of teaching & learning through the new subject frameworks for the secondary curriculum
- development of assessment for learning including Assessing Pupil Progress (APP) in English, mathematics, science and ICT
- supporting the functional skills pilot for English, mathematics and ICT
- development of behaviour & attendance including Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL); securing good behaviour and reducing persistent absence
Regular briefings are held for school strategy managers to outline key developments in national strategies and their implications for schools.
All schools can receive support from the national strategy through resources available on the national web site

and through our CPD programme.Individual support for schools is brokered through School Improvement Partners (SIPs) but is prioritised to schools facing the greatest challenges.
