BBC Schools

The BBC schools site is organised into age groups: 4 - 11, 11 - 16 or 16 - 18.
KS3/4: The major part of the 11 - 16 pages is the Bitesize revision programme. It is a very useful site to revise and practise skills needed for SATS and GCSE. assessments. It comes in French, Spanish and German in all 4 skills and at both Foundation and Higher levels. Also on here is SOS Teacher, an online database of answers written by teachers.

KS5: The 16 - 18 pages contain excellent materials in French and Spanish. 'Accents d'Europe' and 'Semenario Internet' organise an archive of interesting news articles under 10 AS/A2 topic headings. In French there is also access to a series The French Connection with information about French speaking countries around the world.

There is also a chatroom called 'Talkabout' on French, Spanish and German, where students can post questions and hope to get replies concerning queries on languages

BBC World Service

An easy to use site; for news in any of 43 different languages. Click on the chosen language at top right of home page. The site is updated daily and has the reliability and objective view on world events that one expects from the BBC. It also has information on broadcasts and projects.

KS5 Useful to encourage post-16 students to follow national and international news in the foreign language. Audio clips are also available.

KS3/4: This is a French Canadian site for French speaking youngsters up to age 12. It is presented as an adventure through various pages. The linguistic content is sound, but foreign students of French may find the content rather juvenile.
