The ultimate responsibility for Health and Safety in schools rests with the governing body, the headteacher and senior management team. However, each class teacher is responsible for their own safe working practices and that of other adults under their direction, as well as pupils.

The Design and Technology Association have certification for safe working practices at core and for specialised machines. County run annual courses and it is possible for schools to access consultants. Refer to DATA web site on H&S

All kent schools are affiliated members of CLEAPSS, they offer a range of useful information, from regular bulletins to risk assessment sheets, log on to membership page to seek your password.
