New Programme of Study for
Key Stage 3 ICT

The ICT content can be downloaded from National Curriculum Online.

The content for ICT has not changed significantly but explanatory notes have been included to exemplify the ways in which the content can be covered in schemes of work. The level descriptors have been expanded to give a clearer indication of what pupils are expected to do to achieve at each level.

The new National Curriculum orders have applied from 2008 when the incoming year 7 started the new Programme of Study. Level 1 Functional ICT is embedded in the new PoS and this will give pupils a foundation on which to build level 2 Functional Skills in KS4, which will be compulsory for all students following a level 2 Diploma or a GCSE course in Key Stage 4.  The new curriculum will continue to roll out with year 8 from September 2009. There is still a requirement to report to parents, guardians and carers a teacher assessed National Curriculum level for ICT at the end of the Key Stage.

Assessing Pupil Progress

Materials have been prepared to assist in assessing ICT across the Key Stage. At present there are standards files for levels 3 - 7 on this link.
