We offer training to schools in ‘School Equality Duties and Ofsted Implications’. A suite of materials has been designed to support schools in developing a Single Equality Scheme (SES) enabling them to meet the requirements of equalities legislation, to engage with equality issues confidently and to use data and other information effectively to ensure that equality lies at the heart of schools’ work.
The training and materials have been updated to incorporate the changes in legislation under the Equality Act 2010.
The materials have been designed to be accessible and adaptable to context. The content is arranged in the following structure:
The above structure is presented in two booklets, which schools can use as models, suitably contextualised for their own use - the model SES Scheme (Part A) and Appendices (Parts B – E).
For Parts B, C and D of the scheme the materials are presented in a similar fashion - there is an introduction, a template and one or more examples. For ease of use the templates are also available separately. It is anticipated that schools will find it helpful to follow the structure by organising their contextualised materials into a folder, subdivided into the five parts.
You can access the SES materials on our publications page.
