Kent Every Child a Talker
Kent is very pleased to have joined the national Every Child a Talker (ECAT) initiative.
ECAT promotes the development of young children’s communication, speech and language skills by engaging with parents, families and adults working with children aged 0-5.
Language and communication provide the tools for success for children throughout their lives. As adults whether parents or practitioners we have a vital role to play in ensuring children develop these skills.
Children with language delay can have significant difficulties later on, particularly with reading and writing. ECAT is intended to help you give children the right support to reduce the chances of this happening.
Kent County Council is proud to support Hello, a year to help all children communicate
Hello is the national year of communication – a campaign to increase understanding of how important it is for children and young people to develop good communication skills. The campaign is run by The Communication Trust, a coalition of over 35 leading voluntary sector organisations, in partnership with Jean Gross, the Government’s Communication Champion. It is backed by the Department for Education and supported by BT.
Hello aims to make communication for all children and young people a priority in homes and schools across the UK so that they can live life to the full.
Please visit www.hello.org.uk for information on how you can help improve the communication skills of children and young people and to sign up for regular updates.
