
Foundation stage moderation 2011-12
Evidence that supports the accuracy of judgements for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile
- All judgements are agreed to be accurate
- Evidence clearly demonstrates progress and supports judgements
- Rich range of evidence with 80% collected from independent activity – for example different forms of observational assessments, annotated photographs, Learning Journals, evidence from a range of adults including lunchtime staff
- Evidence is collected from all areas of learning and shows individuality and creative thinking
- Methodology for collecting evidence is systematic and allows for easy tracking
- The teacher can talk confidently about the ‘whole child’
- The teacher and TA clearly know the children well and draw more than one judgement from a piece of evidence
- Evidence from the parent and child is used effectively to support next steps in each child’s learning
- Children’s comments are recorded appropriately
- Achievements from outside school are logged such as: swimming certificates, riding a bike, cooking
- Evidence demonstrates that the EYFS environment supports independent learning
- Opportunities provided in the environment present learning experiences that build on the children’s interests and extend learning inside and out
- The school has regularly engaged in moderation internally – this is essential for one form entry schools
- The school has engaged in moderation with another school
- Pupil progress meetings (or the equivalent) take place across the year
- Recommendations made at last year’s moderation have been acted upon
