Keeping Busy Small School Headteachers Informed
In September 2004 several small school Headteachers in Shepway contacted me to say that they found it very difficult to keep up to date with developments in every subject area because staff did not have time to attend twilight subject briefings. Many of these Headteachers had a class teaching responsibility and subject leader role/s and would normally have expected to attend the briefing themselves.
The Headteachers in Shepway decided that they would like to have all the information from the ITN subject briefings summarised into one afternoon meeting. I attended all the briefings on their behalf, collected handouts and made notes of key information to share with them at the meeting. Samples of all the handouts were set out at the meeting and Headteachers were invited to select the ones they wished to have copied.
There are now four groups for Headteacher briefings running. The next meetings are as follows:
Ashford and Shepway: to be confirmed
Rural Swale: 20th November 1.30 p.m.
Dover and Deal: 22nd November 1.30 p.m.
Sevenoaks: 10th November 2.00 p.m.
If you would like to attend one of these meetings or inquire about setting up a briefing in your area, please contact me at Melanie.knowles@kent.gov.uk
