Primary Leadership Programme (PLP)

Each Primary Excellence Project Headteacher has been trained as a coach and mentor and regularly works with allocated schools under the PLP initiative. Kent schools involved in this programme receive support from both their PSCL and from allocated consultants from the Primary Strategy Team of ASK.

Further details of the Programme can be found on the DCSF website (follow this link).  Details of the provision made by Kent in respect of the PLP can be found on the Professional Development webpage.

Ensuring Success Programme (ES)

PEP Headteachers assume the role of Co-ordinating Consultant with those schools involved in the Ensuring Success programme and work in partnership with the ASK, Primary Strategy Team and School Improvement Partners.   As the coordinating consultant they are involved in evaluating progress during the Action Plan reviews and provide updates on school progress when needed for the Authority’s ongoing evaluation.

Supporting and challenging schools as a school improvement partner

PEP undertake the Kent School Improvement Partner role for a number of schools within their partnership.

  • Analysing the school's strengths and areas for improvement
  • Making judgements about the effectiveness of self-evaluation and strategies for school improvement
  • Interacting with headteachers and governors tailoring their challenge and support to the circumstances of the individual school
  • Commisioning external support needed to meet the school's priorities
  • Identifying aspects of exemplary practice that may be shared across the partnerships.
