ICT - KEY STAGE 3
New Programme of Study for ICT
The ICT content can be downloaded from National Curriculum Online.
The content for ICT has not changed significantly but explanatory notes have been included to exemplify the ways in which the content can be covered in schemes of work. The level descriptors have been expanded to give a clearer indication of what pupils area expected to do to achieve at each level.
The new National curriculum orders apply from 2008 when the incoming year 7 will start the new Programme of Study.
Level 1 Functional ICT is embedded in the new PoS and this will give pupils a foundation on which to build level 2 Functional Skills in KS4, which will be compulsory for all students following a level 2 Diploma or a GCSE course in Key Stage 4
The new curriculum will be introduced with year 7 from September 2008 and will roll out over the following two years to years 8 and 9. There is still a requirement ro report a teacher assessed National Curriculum level for ICT at the end of the Key Stage.
