Artsmark LogoArtsmark

Kent schools continue to be successful with 15 schools achieving Artsmark Gold, 7 Artsmark Silver and 5 schools gaining Artsmark.

In July, King Ethelbert School hosted an Artsmark introductory workshop run by the Arts Council with ASK.  More than 40 schools expressed an interest in making an Artsmark Application. Forms and guidance for the next round are now available from the Arts Council website http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/artsmark

You may be looking at applying for Artmark for the first time, or you may be a school that needs to reapply.  Artsmark awards are valid for 3 years. If your school was awarded Artsmark in Round 6 (2005/2006), then you would need to reapply in Round 9 (2008/2009). You can apply within the three year time period for a higher award.

The deadline for applications for Round 9 is November 21st.  If you would like any advice or support with your application, you can contact ASK Advisers.

Young People's Arts Award

Another Arts Council initiative growing in strength is the Young People’s Arts Award.  This is an award scheme for young people which recognises their participation and personal development through the Arts.  Available at Bronze, Silver or Gold, the Award has attracted a lot of interest from Kent Schools.  We now have 25 Centres registered to run Arts Award and would like to increase this in 2009.

We can offer training for those wishing to run the award here in Kent.  For further information, contact Michele Gregson – Michele.Gregson@kent.gov.uk
