CLEANING
School Cleaning requirements are always subject to change. New contracts are now negotiated to allow for those variations and meet the needs of the school. New specifications have been written which enable heavier cleaning tasks to be undertaken during term time when it is needed, rather than wait until a holiday period.
We also manage the Refuse contracts across the County in over 500 schools. We have set up a recycling programme in the Skipaway contract for paper and card. Unfortunately there is a charge for this, however if you have 2 bins or less when we will provide bags free of charge. We are also negotiating with Cleanaway to start recycling in the Folkestone and Ashford contract. Unfortunately it is just as expensive to recycle as it is to dispose of general waste. We are working with our Environment and Waste unit to help schools reduce the amount of waste generated.
We work closely with Property to advise schools on the appropriate finishes for walls and floors to provide safe hard wearing easily cleanable surfaces. We offer training in all aspects of cleaning and the use of chemicals and equipment to ensure all caretaking staff are working safely.
