Kent
Building Schools
for the Future
& Academies Programme

Timescales

Following the election of the new coalition government on 11 May 2010, the new Education Secretary, Michael Gove, announced that the Building Schools for the Future Programme has been stopped, and that a number of planned academies are ‘under discussion’.

The programme timescale below includes schools already in construction, those agreed to progress and those currently ‘under discussion’.

For a list of schools that are no longer proceeding, please click here

Timescale Notes:

  • The Academies listed below are procured through the previous Government’s Academy Framework, and not those gaining Academy status through the new Academies Bill.
  • W = Wave: A 'wave' indicates a funding stream within the national BSF programme.
  • B = Batch: To ensure cost efficiencies during the procurement process, Kent identified a single private partner to manage the delivery of a number of academies.
  • Dates marked with * are estimated and may be subject to change.
