Exciting opportunity to work with a Collège in Northern France on a Bilingual Magazine

The International Development Unit has been contacted by their partner Conseil Général du Pas-de- Calais who is looking for 3 or 4 schools in Kent to work together with 3 or 4 schools (age 11-15) from Northern France.

This is an exciting opportunity for schools to work together on producing a bilingual magazine called 1,2,3… Yes.  There would be no costs attached to the production of this magazine and a copy of the publication will be sent to all schools in Kent and Pas-de-Calais.

The first group of French students would come to Kent in November 2009.

Please click here to read a previous version of 1,2,3 Yes.

If your school is interested in hosting a group of French students with the aim of working on the 1,2,3… Yes Magazine, please get in touch with the International Development Unit.

The Prime Minister’s Global Fellowship Programme - Free Twilight Session

Every summer the British Council sends 100 amazing young people to the tiger economies of Brazil, China and India for a life-changing six weeks. Giving them the opportunity to work with and learn from their peers, teachers and business people. The aim is to start new conversations about the social, economic and environmental issues posed by rapid global change.

The selection criteria for candidates are not based on their academic scores; the panel will be looking for enthusiastic self-starters with an open-minded attitude and thirst for learning about the world around them.
Applicants must be 18-19 years.

On Tuesday, 20 October  the International Development Unit has arranged for an information evening about the scheme at the Ashford Enterprise Centre in Ashford from 16.00 - 18.00

A member from the British Council team will host a meeting with at least one young person that has taken part in the programme. They will present the aims and experiences of the programme and the Fellow(s) will talk about how they have benefited from their experiences. We will also spend time answering questions.
The deadline for applications for the programme is Friday 18 December 2009.
