"Our objectives in choosing Hardelot were:

  • To give pupils an experience of staying in a foreign country and experiencing a new culture in a supported way (amongst peers and with familiar staff). To give pupils an opportunity to spend time away from home - for many children it is the first time they have been away without their parents.
  • All objectives fulfilled

The advantages of Hardelot for us are:

  • Safe well contained environment - large enough to give children space and freedom, but small enough to give safety and security
  • Sole use of whole site for individual school use
  • Beautiful setting with opportunities for outdoor activities
  • Helpful staff
  • Near to many visits and attractions which the children really enjoy
  • Meal arrangements give children the chance to experience a formal meal served at their tables (many children do not have the opportunity to eat with family at home)."

"Staying in the Centre has been a great experience. I’ve learnt to get close to other friends. I’ve learnt a lot about wild creatures and it’s really fun in the games room. I like playing in the woods and getting lost" Clarissa

"One reason we chose Hardelot was its proximity to Boulogne, as that was our original destination. Also I had heard good reports of the site from a local School. We needed a site where there was plenty of space and plenty to occupy the children without it being like a theme park. We wanted a peaceful site, not too far from the coast and which would give us exclusive use so that we knew the children would be safe without our constant supervision; they are a pretty independent bunch and we like to let them have their own space as much as possible; also they learn a lot from each other as they go to so many different schools and come from various backgrounds. The site offered accommodation that was just right for our small group, offering easy to organise 2 and 4 bedrooms. And it was helpful that duvets and linen were supplied as that would have been an added problem to bring over from England. We really did have a great time in Hardelot and would certainly consider a return journey."

"Our objectives in choosing to bring our Year 6 group to Hardelot were to provide them with an experience of French culture and people; to enable them to practise their French conversation skills; to develop independence skills in a safe environment along with team building. We feel these objectives have been met and it is a truly worthwhile experience for the children. The advantages of the Hardelot Centre are:

  • An authentic experience of the French way of life is possible
  • The children are able to talk to French people and taste French cuisine
  • The Centre itself is picturesque and safe
  • The children have a real sense of adventure and freedom"

"Hardelot is wicked!" James"

I have had so much fun here and I don’t want to leave" Maisy
