DPFOI: Training

For CFE:

Information Governance Workshops

What is Information Goverance? As a 'Public Authority' and 'Data Controller' under current legislation KCC must comply with both the DP Act 1998 and FOI Act 2000. As employees of KCC we are often required to work with information about people's lives. This is why the national Information Governance framework is so important, it underpins the legislation.

Do I need to attend? It is important that all KCC staff attend these workshops, but particularly those who come into contact with our customers or those who process their personal information. Processing applies to all uses of the information, from collecting to storing, to retrieving, organising and destroying it.

For more information click on the Information Governance workshops link above.

Addtional Training : We are happy to come out to teams and provide either 'formal' or 'informal'  training on Data Protection (subject access requests). Please contact either Michelle Hunt or Debbie Percvial (contact details on Access to Information page).

For Schools:

Elizabeth Barber, KCC Records Manager and Michelle Hunt have prepared a joint presentation on Records Management / Data Protection & Freedom of Information specifically for schools. It is important for all schools to ensure compliance and understand their obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

We have already provided several cluster groups with the training, which they have found extremely useful. The presentation takes approximately 2 hours which includes plenty of time for questions. The audience we are aiming the presentation at is Headteachers and / or Governors (people who are decision makers within the schools) and anyone who is likely to deal with the front line enquiries from pupils / parents / carers or the public.

If you are interested please contact your LEO to arrange.
