Line Manager Guide

This guide has been designed to support managers – that's anyone who is in charge of one person, a team or a department.

The guide makes it easier to:

  • be confident about supporting disabled people
  • recognise when someone might have a disability
  • be aware of potential barriers faced by disabled people.

It will help managers:

  • Deliver best practice on disability
  • Learn how to get help for disabled team members
  • Understand the law.

Read the Line Manager Guide.

The Disability Communication Guide

This guide has been produced for staff to use in their everyday working lives. With the use of humorous images, it helps smooth the process of meeting and working with people who have specific impairments and assist in developing a greater understanding of the views and preferences of disabled people.

It offers:

  • Guidance on language and etiquette
  • Advice on specific impairments and preferred modes of assistance
  • Practical advice on how to recognise and avoid attitudes and behaviour that can create misunderstandings and barriers.

Read the Disability Communication Guide.
