For schools who do NOT buy back KCC Personnel Services and/or Capita Unipay Payroll

As the employer for pension-related functions for teachers at all maintained schools, the Local Authority has a statutory duty to provide the Annual Return of Service to Teachers' Pensions. We are now preparing a Return for the financial year ending 31 March 2008.

Because we do not hold full service and pay information for teaching staff at schools who do NOT buy back KCC Personnel Services and/or Capita Unipay Payroll, these schools will need to complete and return the spreadsheets below. A full set of guidance notes to assist with its completion is also attached.

It is essential that the information you provide is accurate and auditable, as this will affect the future pension position of your employees. Because we cannot substantiate the information you supply, schools will be accountable for any omissions or errors.

If it would help to have a copy of 2006/07 return, please contact lynda.m.harman@kent.gov.uk

The deadline for the completion of the forms is 30 May 2008.

Spreadheets and Guidance

Please complete a line on the form for each teacher in your school who is in the Teachers' Pension Scheme and ensure that a new line is completed to reflect each change of service during the return year. Please also ensure that the teacher's personal details, fields 1 – 8, are typed in for each separate line of service completed. A full set of guidance for completing the forms is attached below.

Important Note: If you have changed your personnel or payroll provider during the return period of 1.4.07 to 31.3.08, you may need to complete more than one of the spreadsheets for information from each provider. Also, if your package combination has changed during the period, the relevant spreadsheets will need to be completed for that part year period.
