School Websites - Audience

A website's audience is a key issue to resolve

is it for your students,
your staff , and prospective staff,
your parents, and prospective parents,
for other schools
or for all of these ?

Handling different audiences in one place has its problems - and you need to consider this carefully in your content and navigational structure. A lay audience ( e.g. parents ) will use different terminology to a professional one. So be careful to explain your jargon and use Plain English at all times.

With more sophisticated collaborative sites and Learning Platforms in the future there may be log-in areas for different types of users.
