• To have a strategic overview of policy and initiatives facing secondary education in Kent;
• To be the prime focus for policy consultation between secondary headteachers, the LEA and other bodies, whilst recognising the need for consultation with all schools, professional associations and other bodies as appropriate; and
• To co-ordinate the activity of other consultative groups which deal with secondary education matters, whilst recognising the autonomy and specific remits of these.
