Dear colleague
We are delighted to be extending an invitation to all Primary and Special school headteachers for the Heads Conference 2011: At a Crossroads - The choice for school leadership today
The conference will be held on 7 - 8 July 2011 at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Maidstone.
In keeping with the central theme of leadership, we are fortunate in having Steve Munby, Director of the National College for Leadership of schools and Children’s Services as keynote speaker to open the conference. We will be focusing on leadership through the inclusion agenda with the nationally recognised ‘Inclusion Workshop’ group who will be leading the Thursday afternoon session.
The theme of leadership with Heads as leaders of learning in their schools is the focus for the morning of day two, with Nick Hind focusing on curriculum development. Nick is a member of the expert group advising the education secretary and has worked extensively on the development of the creative curriculum with many schools. We will also have a couple of colleague Headteachers from London schools who will share their school improvement journey so far. Toby Salt (Deputy Director with responsibility for leadership at the National College) will draw our conference to a close with a session from 12 – 1pm.
We have organised a conference dinner and have booked the band ‘Hullabaloo’ for the after dinner entertainment.
We have arranged for a team of well-being therapists to be available, free of charge, on the first day and they will be offering treatments such as head, hand and foot massage.
We have considered a range of options that we hope will enable all Heads to take part in the conference:
There will be a cancellation charges as follows:
Between 24 and 12 weeks before the conference - 25% of the package price
Between 12 and 4 weeks before the conference - 75% of the package price
Less than 4 weeks before the conference - 90% of the package price
48 hours before the conference – 100% of the package price
(If cancellation is due to an Ofsted visit or a family issue, the cancellation charge will be waived)
We are really hoping that all colleagues will see this as an opportunity for their own professional development, to share futures thinking on both the local and the national context with fellow Headteachers, and as an opportunity to review a year full of both challenges and opportunities for innovation and creativity as we move, following the white paper, into our new future.
We would welcome a response by Monday 14 February. Please return the booking form to: cfe.mdevents@kent.gov.uk. Following the deadline, and if we have spaces, we will then extend the invitation to Deputy and Assistant Headteachers.
Should you wish any further clarification please do not hesitate to contact any member of the planning group:
