Admissions to send Primary Schools Admissions Data in ATF format

To: Headteachers & Admissions Staff
Priority: Important
Purpose:
Action: Circulation

Dear Colleagues,

The information below only applies to Primary and Infant schools; not Junior schools.

Following requests from a number of schools, we have completed a project that will enable us to produce ATF files containing the pupils who will be offered places at your establishment on the 30 of March. This will allow you to import the data into the SIMS system instead of being required to manually input the new pupils.

The decision was made to only create files for Primary and Infant schools due to the fact that the depth of data (pupil history, etc) available to Junior schools in CTF files provided by a pupil's previous establishment will almost always be superior to our 'Offer Day' data.

We will send your offer list on an excel spreadsheet via s2s as usual, no later than 29 March, which you should still check for any possible discrepancies or errors. Do not begin entering this data into SIMS manually.

We will send the ATF files on the 30 March via s2s. Unlike all other files currently sent to you from our department, these will need to be downloaded from the 'Admissions' file section of s2s and not the 'Generic' file section.

EIS will be sending you information and instructions about how to import the ATF files prior to you receiving the file from ourselves. At this teething stage of a new procedure there may be some issues regarding address information being imported into incorrect address fields. We strongly recommended that you pay special attention to the addresses as part of your normal checks. We hope to be able to prevent this occurring in time for the files to be sent.
