Welcome to Sevenoaks South Local Children Services Partnership (LCSP)
In 2006 the Kent Children’s Trust (KCT) was established, bringing together public, private and voluntary sector services to focus on improving life chances of all children and young people. The Trust aims to help partners to plan and work more effectively together with the common goal of addressing the five national outcomes of Every Child Matters:
- Be healthy
- Stay Safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well being
In 2008 the Kent Children’s Trust published the Children and Young Peoples Plan 2008-2011: Positive about our future a single strategic plan for all services affecting children and young people across the county.
In September 2008, Kent Children’s Trust introduced 23 Local Children Services Partnerships, including Sevenoaks South LCSP, to enable the Children and Young Peoples Plan to be delivered more effectively at a local level. Both KCT and the 23 partnerships have a specific focus on tackling the barriers that come from living in poverty or disadvantage and to involve parents and children who may already be socially excluded or disadvantaged.
The Children and Young People’s Plan identifies eight priority areas that all partners will work towards through integrated planning and working and multi agency cooperation. These are summarised as:
Priority 1: Reduce the impact of poverty on children’s lives
Priority 2: Improve the resilience in children and young people
Priority 3: Improve parenting by implementing Every Parent Matters
Priority 4: Improve the quality and stability of housing for vulnerable children and
young people
Priority 5: support vulnerable children to improve their life chances
Priority 6: Ensure more young people have things to do and safe places to go in their
leisure time
Priority 7: Increase engagement and participation by young people in education, employment and society
Priority 8: Children and young people are safe and feel safe in the communities
Sevenoaks South LCSP is working closely with local schools, health and social services, the District Council, the police and the voluntary sector to deliver the vision of the Kent Children and Young Peoples Plan and ensure our children, young people and families have the support and opportunities they need to enable them to be the best they can be.
