Canterbury Local Children’s Services Partnership Grants
LCSP Grants available up to £5,000 per project. Applications must meet the priorities in the Kent Children Trust (KCT) Children and Young People’s Plan 08-11 and address the needs of children, young people & families living in the Canterbury district (Canterbury City & rural areas, Herne Bay & Whitstable). Projects are funded to 31 March 2011 and delivery must be completed by 31 March 2011. Please submit your application to Nick Smith no later than 5pm 7 July 2010. The LCSP Commissioning Sub-Group will meet on the 8 July to discuss applications. Herne Bay Primary Schools Christmas Carol Concert
The annual carol concert took place on Wednesday at Kings Hall. It was superb from the first muscial notes of Hallelujah Rock" to the last of "....Figgy Pudding"
Well done to all the singers, recorders, bell ringers, glockenspeils, xylophones, readers, the Band, Conductor and staff who made it all happen!

Herne Infant School- National Support School
Herne Infant School has been recognised by the DCSF as a National Support School. Headteacher Sylvia Wilson attended a dinner in London with the education minister to celebrate the achievements of Herne Infant and other nominated schools.

Well done to Briary School, in Herne Bay. They have won a Silver Award from Sing Up programme.. Briary is the first Kent school to receive an award, and one of the first schools in the country (only 20 silver and gold awards have been given).
Sing up said: ‘ Well done - the level and variety of singing in the school is something for you to be very proud of! Sing Up is the Music Manifesto’s National Singing Programme. It’s a programme to make sure that singing is at the heart of every primary school child’s life. Musical Interludes for Talented Children
Year 3 and 4 talented musicians from schools in Herne Bay spent Friday afternoon working with Advanced Skills Teacher Mrs Denise Parrett for an afternoon session at Briary School. Mrs Parrett said "The children were focused and really keen". Talented children from Whitstable were given the same opportunity in the next week.
