Canterbury Coastal Music

Canterbury Coastal is very much a cluster that supports music for all children. We are very fortunate to have two ASTs for music (Rosie Henderson at Herne Infants and Denise Parrett at Briary) as well as a leading teacher at Herne Bay Junior School. All three teachers work hard to support all partnership schools initiatives.

Canterbury Coastal Infant Sing Song- Herne Bay July

This year’s event took place at Briary Primary School. “The Sea” was the chosen theme for the songs; our joint song was “Oh I do like to be beside the seaside”. Helen MacGregor was kind enough to lead the singing.
Below you can see the six schools who took part and the songs they sang.

Briary sang “Apuskydusky” with Mr Cooper the headteacher playing piano. We enjoyed Chislet’s rendition of “We all live in a Yellow Submarine” and joined in with them later.

Hampton sang " A sailor went to sea, sea, sea"
Herne Infants sang “A baby sardine” in two parts.

Herne Bay Infants sang a new song called “Come with us to the beach”.

Reculver with their pirate hats performed a lively version of “When I was one”, which we all joined in with. After a very enjoyable morning’s singing, Briary had organised refreshments and a playtime for us all to enjoy before the sailors and pirates returned to their schools.

Canterbury Coastal Cluster Infant Sing Song Whitstable- July

This was the first Infant Sing Song for Whitstable schools and took place at Swalecliffe Primary School. “The Sea” was the theme for the songs; and we chose “Oh I do like to be beside the seaside” to sing all together.

Swalecliffe  sang “Come with me to the bottom of the sea”, a new song for many of us and Joy lane sang a lovely performance of "When I was one" which everyone enjoyed

St.Alphege performed “Seaside Samba” a song written especially for them by Anita Memmott.

After a very enjoyable morning’s singing, Swalecliffe had organised healthy refreshments and a playtime for us all to enjoy before the sailors and pirates returned to their schools.
Thank you to all who were involved to make this a very successful first Whitstable Infant Sing Song.
