Essential training for Designated Child Protection Co-ordinators (DCPC's) in Schools/Services. The courses cover the essential information and knowledge for DCPC's to fully meet the requirements of National Guidance "Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education 2007" and the OFSTED Section 5 briefing.

In line with DFE guidelines the DCPC must be a member of the school leadership team and have the authority to make safeguarding decisions on behalf of the school.

Courses are now published. Course details are listed under Subject  but a helpful hint : once in the 'Search Event' window,  type the word 'safeguarding'  in the 'keyword'  field.

Initially only one booking per school will be accepted.

DCPC (whole day):  Essential training for Designated Child Protection Co-ordinators who are new to the role or have not attended training within the last 3 years.  In line with DFE guidelines the DCPC must be a member of the school leadership team and have the authority to make safeguarding decisions on behalf of the school.

Update (Refresher) Training (half day):  This training is an update for those experienced DCPCs who have completed DCPC training, and enables them to maintain the statutory requirement to attend child protection training every 2 years.  In line with DFE guidelines the DCPC must be a member of the school leadership team and have the authority to make safeguarding decisions on behalf of the school.

Para-Professional Training - for members of staff in school who frequently come into contact with children i.e. Family Liaison Officers, Teaching Assistants, School Secretaries etc.  There are currently no dates for 2011 / 2012 academic year.  (If you would be happy for a course to be provided please contact the Safeguarding Team at Sessions House on 01622 696366.)

Whole School Training -  It is the responsibility of the DCPC to ensure this training takes place.  To assist with  training a materials CD Rom is available to currently trained DCPCs. Please phone 01622 696366 for more information of speak to your Area Children's Officer.

Early Years Training
