National Quality Framework for the CAF process
All Local Authorities, working with their other partners in the Childrens' Trust, are responsible for ensuring that the CAF processes are being conducted in a high quality way across all children' services.
In Kent, the Integrated Working Group endorsed a proposal for a simple-to-use audit tool to help Districts examine quality and promote good practice in using integrated processes (CAF, Lead Professional, Team Around the Child, information sharing) to support children and young people. The Integrated Process Audit Tool is used to monitor and review the quality of the CAF process and make recommendations for action. The tool is currently under review.
The National Quality Framework for the CAF Process was published in February 2010. This provides national guidance that may be used locally to monitor and improve the quality of the CAF process to help improve outcomes for children and young people.
Ongoing work to embed the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and the Lead Professional functions across Kent is being overseen by a multi-agency Board.
The Agencies represented are:-
The Board reports to the Kent Children's Trust County Board.
