ContactPoint is now closed. It was shut down centrally in a managed, secure and controlled way on 6 August 2010.
The government is looking at a different approach to supporting practitioners working with vulnerable children, and to reducing bureaucracy. A new approach would focus on helping practitioners find out whether another practitioner is working with a vulnerable child and might provide a signposting service for a limited number of key professionals. The approach would particularly take account of the needs of children who move between different local authority areas or who access services in more than one local authority. Work is taking place nationally to assess the feasibility and affordability of such an approach. The government will provide an update in the autumn.
As part of the decommissioning plan, KCC needs to collect all ContactPoint tokens from users of the system and return them to the national team. To help us with this, please return your token, set to the transport PIN, to: Integrated Processes Team, Room 2.22 Sessions House, Maidstone ME14 1XQ. It is important that all tokens are set to their transport PINs before being returned to the KCC ContactPoint team and guidance on how to reset your token is here.
Accreditation work for ContactPoint will still be required for the electronic eCAF. This means partners should continue work on accreditation in preparation for eCAF. Advice will be given to partners about which conditions to focus their work.
The Project Board will continue with its work on integrated process, including CAF, Lead Professional, Team Around the Child and Information Sharing to support communication between services working with children, young people and their families.
If you have any queries, please email them to the Integrated Processes Team
