Kent Healthy Schools: What is Healthy School Status?
By 2009, the Government wants all schools to be working towards achieving healthy school status. From 2005 additional resources were allocated to local programmes to support the work. Every school has access to a local Healthy School Coordinator to provide support through the improvement process.
To be awarded healthy school status schools need to demonstrate evidence of good practice in the four core themes using a whole school approach and involving the whole school community. Each theme contains a list of the criteria which must be evidenced.
If you are interested in taking part in the programme first contact your nearest Local Healthy School Coordinator.
