| |  Health Needs Education Service Health Needs Education is an education service provision run by Kent Local Authority for children who are unable to attend their home school because of illness. Provision may include education at home (home tuition), education at a base or satellite or in hospital depending on the illness or medical needs of the child. |
How to Apply Schools apply by returning a completed referral form to the Service Coordinator at Sessions House, County Hall, Maidstone ME14 1XQ.
When successful the school will then call a planning meeting to consider the type, length, of support and outline reintegration plans. If other provision is appropriate the coordinator will facilitate this.
Complete the referral form, save to your computer and post with the evidence needed to Evelyn Green, the Coordinator, at Sessions House. HNE Locations
At present the service is located at the following schools: What is Provided? - Outreach to schools to create capacity for pupils to remain in their home schools wherever possible. (e.g. advice and training about risk assessments/care plans, condition specific training such as acquired brain injury or epilepsy)
- Home tuition for pupils so unwell they cannot leave home
- Tuition at bases for those who need small groups and the specialist knowledge of their conditions
- GCSE courses for those in year 10/11 where they are unable to reintegrate into their home schools
- Tuition at a satellite for those for whom a 'halfway house' is needed, in small groups.
