The Teacher’s TV website contains videos to help pupils engage in a range of subjects, from Early Years to KS2. These are ideal for sharing with your class during lessons.

Don’t forget that although you can play these videos directly from the website, if you register with Teacher’s TV you can download and save them to your computer, giving you much more control. Registration is free.
Holi, the liveliest of all Hindu festivals, marks the end of the winter gloom and rejoices in the bloom of the spring time. It falls at the end of this week on 3 March.
The night before full moon, communities gather around huge bonfires to sign and dance and burn residual debris of winter.
Singing and dancing continues into the next day when coloured powders are thrown over everyone in merriment. People, young and old are drenched in colour.
The BBC has information on the festivals as well as curriculum ideas.

A new competition, for pupils aged 9 to 11 in all primary schools across the UK, has been organised by the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee (PITCOM) in partnership with e-skills UK.
"We are looking for pupil-led innovative ICT projects that have made a positive impact on your school. Your entry should show the best use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources to the benefit of the school, local community, in the UK or across the world."
This is fantastic opportunity to show off all the good ICT work you are doing in your school. Why not give it a go?

Here's an activity for Chinese New Year, (7th February 2008). It is a Sunday! I believe the tradition is to give out Red Pockets to those who say 'Kung Hei Fat Choy' for the first 15 days of the lunar month.
This is a new resource and should therefore be treated as a Beta version. Any feedback would be extremely welcome!www.kented.org.uk/ngfl/games/hongBow_v4.html
Happy New Year!

We have highlighted www.geograph.org.uk before but it is worth mentioning again. It has grown into a huge resource of pictures freely available under the Creative Commons Licence. (Many Flickr users have also chosen to offer their work under a Creative Commons license, and you can browse or search through photos under each type of license.)
"The Geograph British Isles project aims to collect a geographically representative photograph for every square kilometre of the British Isles."
The photographs on www.geograph.org.uk can be accessed by clicking an area on the UK map or by searching keywords such as name of place, rivers etc. (The red areas contain photographs.)
Schools are using the site in a variety of ways including using photographs of the local area, coastal areas and UK rivers. When showing photographs of the local area, pupils often can identify where the picture was taken and how near it is to their house.
We would be interested to know if you are using www.geograph.org.uk and your own ideas of using this fantastic resource. Please tell us by leaving a comment below.
I have been enjoying reading the Tithe Barn School blog over the past few months and thought it was about time I shared it with you as a good use of blogging by a school. http://www.tithebarnschool.com/blog/
Kent schools in particular will be interested in the way the school is using 2Connect to inform parents on what the pupils have been learning.
