School Governance Unit: Jargon Buster

As a governor not used to the extensive use of education jargon you may find many initials and acronyms confusing and unfamiliar.  The following guide should help you with the most frequently used abbreviations, or to understand a new term.

When using acronyms in minutes of the governing body or its committees, it is helpful to all readers, the first time it is used, to put the unabbreviated version followed by the acronym in brackets .
