Raising Highway Issues

Reporting  Highways Issues

l

When developing or implementing Travel Plans, schools often recognise highways issues which are either affecting sustainable modes of travel to school, or are causing safety concerns.  We recommend that you discuss this with the Parish Council and local members so that we can be sure that there is a local concensus before reporting the matter to us.

Contact details of your councillor can be accessed via:

http://democracy.kent.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1

Information about parish councils is here:

See below for details of who to contact depending on the issues you have.

l

Who to contact if you have a complaint or concern about the highway on your route to school.

Kent Highway Services, part of Kent County Council, is responsible for managing and maintaining Kent’s roads.

However, some of the more local matters, such as parking, abandoned vehicles and dog fouling are the responsibility of the district councils.

The leaflet Who looks after the roads in Kent? sets out whether your concern should be directed to Kent Highway Services, or your local district council.
